MacBook Air 13 (Mid 2011 - 2017) Speaker Replacement
Introduction
This is a guide for a speaker replacement for the MacBook Air 13 (Mid 2011 - 2017).
Tools Required
• P5 Pentalobe Screwdriver
• T5 Torx Screwdriver

Precautions
• Careful when unscrewing as the some of the screws are small. • Take note of the screw driver to be used.
Step 1
Remove the 10 screws as shown in the image. - 2 x 9mm P5 screws (Red Circle) - 8 x 2.6mm P5 screws (Yellow Circle)
Step 2
Slightly lift up lower the case and push it towards the rear of the laptop to free the mounting tabs
Step 3
Grab the clear plastic pull tab attached to the battery connector and pull it towards the front of the edge to disconnect the battery
Step 4
Remove the following screws securing the battery of thelaptop - 3 x 6.3mm T5 Torx screw (Yellow Circle) - 2 x 2.4mm T5 Torx screw (Red Circle)
Step 5
Lift the battery from its edges nearest to the logic board and remove it from the upper case
Step 6
Skip to step 12 if you are only replacing right speaker Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the left speaker cable connector up and out of its socket on the I/O board.
Step 7
De-route the left speaker cable from its retaining clip on the I/O board.
Step 8
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the left speaker off the adhesive securing it to the upper case.
Step 9
Remove stickers covering from the new left speaker
Step 10
Insert new left speaker to the chassis
Step 11
Connect back the speaker cable to the socket on the I/O board
Step 12
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the right speaker connector up and out of its socket on the logic board.
Step 13
Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the right speaker off the adhesive securing it to the upper case. Remove the right speaker from the upper case.
Step 14
Remove stickers covering from the new right speaker
Step 15
Insert new right speaker to the chassis
Step 16
Connect back the right speaker connector to its socket on the logic board.
Step 17
Place back the battery
Step 18
Secure the screw to secure the battery back in place - 3 x 6.3mm T5 Torx screw (Yellow Circle) - 2 x 2.4mm T5 Torx screw (Red Circle)
Step 19
Connect back the battery connector to its socket
Step 20
Place the lower case back onto the laptop
Step 21
Screw back the 10 screws to secure the lower case - 2 x 9mm P5 screws (Red Circle) - 8 x 2.6mm P5 screws (Yellow Circle)
