Macbook Pro 13 Unibody (2008 - 2012) Fan Replacement
Introduction
This guide is for a fan replacement for the MacBook Pro 13 (2008 - 2012).
Tools Required
• Phillips #00 Screwdriver
• Tri-Point Y0 Screwdriver
• Spudger

Precautions
• Work on a clear and open surface • Careful when unscrewing as the some of the screws are small • Take note of the screw driver to be used
Step 1
Remove the 10 screws as shown in the image. - 7 x 3mm Phillips screw (Yellow Circle) - 3 x 13.5mm Phillips screw (Red Circle)
Step 2
Slightly lift up lower the case and push it towards the rear of the laptop to free the mounting tabs
Step 3
Using the flat end of the spudger, lift the battery connector up out of its socket on the logic board
Step 4
Use a spudger to pry the fan connector out of its seat, and straight up off the logic board.
Step 5
Remove the following three screws securing the fan to the upper case: One 6.5 mm Phillips. (Orange Circle) One 5.5 mm Phillips. (Red Circle) One 4.5 mm Phillips. (Yellow Circle)
Step 6
Lift the fan out of the upper case. Insert new fan
Step 7
Secure back the following three screws securing the fan to the upper case: One 6.5 mm Phillips. (Orange Circle) One 5.5 mm Phillips. (Red Circle) One 4.5 mm Phillips. (Yellow Circle)
Step 8
Connect back the fan connector to the logic board.
Step 9
Secure back the battery connector
Step 10
Place the lower case back onto the laptop
Step 11
Screw back the 10 screws to secure the back case - 7 x 3mm Phillips screw (Yellow Circle) - 3 x 13.5mm Phillips screw (Red Circle)
